The label alleges that the artist and his management team engaged in secret negotiations with Empire Distribution, despite being under an active contract.

In an official statement, Precious Okolie, CEO of Tunesbid Limited, claimed the artist acted in bad faith.

The Ayo Maff contract dispute stems from an alleged breach involving two planned EP projects and a proposed LP deal.

Empire Distribution reportedly offered to distribute the projects and agreed to make an upfront payment to the label, with formal documents already in progress.

However, Okolie alleges that while final terms were being prepared, Ayo Maff and his team—identified as Oyefeso Oluwamayowa Olumide, Okolie Arnold Chiedu, and Oyefeso Ayotunde—held private talks with Empire, cutting Tunesbid out of the process.

“These efforts attracted the attention of international distribution companies… but the artist and his management secretly entered meetings with Empire and refused to honour the contract,” the label said.

The situation escalated further when the artist’s team submitted letters in May 2024, declaring their intent to exit the agreement—less than six months after it was signed.

According to the label, they had already invested heavily in recording material for the first EP, based on the understanding that the Empire deal would be executed through them.

Okolie accused the artist’s team of deceiving the label while intentionally avoiding formal termination procedures.

Tunesbid Limited claims it attempted to resolve the matter through dialogue but was met with resistance.

As a result, the company has retained a legal team led by Zaeda Oracle to pursue legal action.

“The artist is still contractually bound to Tunesbid Limited,” the label warned.

“Any third party dealing with Ayo Maff or OceanStreet Creative Limited does so at their own risk and may face legal consequences.”
