According to the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, the suspects were arrested in a hotel on July 19 following credible intelligence.

The skull was traced back to Ahmadu Jiya, who admitted exhuming the remains of his maternal grandmother, aged over 90, in a desperate attempt to settle debts of over ₦2 million.

He claimed a herbalist, Ndache, instructed him to obtain a human head—dead or alive—for a money ritual.

Jiya later backed out and kept the skull hidden for two years until his friend, Muhammed Adamu, returned with another associate, Abubakar Mohammed, offering ₦100,000.

They paid ₦40,000 upfront and took the skull to another herbalist, Malam Ali Mohammed, who charged ₦500,000 for a ritual involving a drum and the skull.
