Ogun State Government delays repair of Loburo Road, leaving residents and businesses struggling amid worsening conditions months after promises

Ogun State Government has failed to repair the critical Loburo Road in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, leaving residents, motorists, and businesses in mounting hardship over four months after promises to fix it.

Despite assurances from the government in May, the road remains in a deplorable state, turning a vital route into a nightmare for daily commuters.

The road connects important hubs such as the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Mowe-Ofada Road, the Magistrate Court, and the palace of the Onigbein of Igbein Land, but its condition now severely disrupts transportation and commerce.

Residents like food vendor Emeka Ibe lament the impact on their livelihoods.

“Due to the bad road, I barely have customers; they find it difficult to come to my shop to eat,” he said, pleading for urgent government action.

Others like Mrs. Fatai described the environmental toll, highlighting choking dust in dry seasons and worsening conditions during rains.

Commercial motorcyclist Musa detailed how the road has inflicted economic and mechanical burdens, damaging his bike and forcing price hikes for customers.

Car owner Oluwatosin also revealed heavy repair costs after his vehicle was damaged by potholes.

Calls and messages to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, seeking updates went unanswered at the time of reporting, deepening frustrations over the government’s silence.
