Olamide says being a music executive is easier than being an artist, explaining that his creative background helps him better understand and manage YBNL signees

Olamide music executive role comes naturally to him, the rapper and YBNL label boss revealed in a recent interview with YouTuber Korty EO.

The Nigerian star explained that managing artists is easier than being one, largely because his own experience as a performer helps him understand creatives on a deeper level.

“It’s way much easier for me being a music executive than an artist because I’m an artist,” he said.

“I know when we want to run mad. I know when we are getting high on our supply, fame, money and success.”

Olamide said this insight into the mindset of artists helps him support his signees better, allowing him to avoid overstretching himself as a label boss.

On the ongoing debate around Nigerian rappers shifting to singing, Olamide remained firm:

“You can’t box me and call me a rapper—I love music.”
