Jaba–Kwoi Road reconstruction begins as Uba Sani fulfils promise to Southern Kaduna, boosting rural connectivity and economic inclusion

Jaba–Kwoi Road reconstruction has officially commenced, following Governor Uba Sani’s groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday in Jaba, Southern Kaduna.

The Kaduna State Governor described the long-awaited project as both a critical economic link and a personal promise fulfilled.

The road, in a state of disrepair for years, connects key communities in Southern Kaduna to the Abuja highway, making it vital for rural mobility and trade.

“This road is not just asphalt and gravel. It is a lifeline, a highway of hope,” said Governor Sani, addressing a crowd of residents and officials at the site.

He underscored the emotional and strategic importance of the project, calling it *“a duty of conscience and the fulfilment of a solemn promise”* to a region that has felt neglected.

The Jaba–Kwoi Road reconstruction is part of a broader phase of infrastructure works launched on August 7 across all 23 Local Government Areas of the state.

With over 80 road projects already completed or ongoing in the last two years, this new phase aims to build more than 550 additional kilometres of roads and bridges.

Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency, Dr Abdullahi Ahmed, said the government has allocated ₦3.5 billion for compensation and relocation to ensure no community is left behind.

Earlier the same day, Governor Sani also flagged off construction of an access road to the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia—signalling a dual commitment to both education and infrastructure in Southern Kaduna.

“These two projects in one day show clearly that this region is not an afterthought. Southern Kaduna is central to our development agenda,” Sani stated.

He said the reconstruction goes beyond physical infrastructure. “We are linking communities, opening economic corridors, and creating opportunities. This is how we secure prosperity for our people.”

The governor reassured residents that his administration will continue to prioritise fairness and inclusivity.

“We are building a new Kaduna—of unity, not division; of fairness, not favouritism,” he declared, urging residents to see the project as a shared journey of hope.

The reconstruction of the Jaba–Kwoi Road is expected to significantly ease travel, boost agricultural trade, and connect isolated communities to urban opportunities.
