Nigerian Comedian, Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has taken to social media to tell those that backed the government in saying there was no killing at Lekki Toll Gate last year, to await their day of reckoning.

Crystal News recalls that the comedian also suffered police brutality months ago when he led a group of #EndSARS protesters to the street demanding justice for victims of police assaults.

Mr Macaroni and other protesters were, however, released hours after an uproar from concerned Nigerians.

A panel set up by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to investigate cases of police brutality and events that unfolded at the Lekki toll gate on October 20, 2020, on Monday submitted two reports to the governor.

The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry led by Justice Doris Okuwobi in its reports titled, ‘Report of Lekki Incident Investigation Of 20th October 2020’, said at least 48 protesters were either shot dead, injured with bullet wounds, or assaulted by soldiers.

It also noted that at least nine persons were killed at the Lekki toll plaza on the night soldiers stormed there to disperse #EndSARS protesters on October 20, 2020.

Reacting to the outcome of the panel via his verified Twitter page on Tuesday, Mr Macaroni wrote, “They were always asking were the survivors and families of the victims were. So make them kill them the way dem kill others, abi?

“All of you that defended this barbaric act should know that one way or the other, there will be a day of reckoning.

“The same panel that the government set up has presented their findings. Except you people don’t have faith in your own judicial system.”

The comedian added: “Since last year, we have seen numerous gaslighting and lies! The truth always prevails and that truth is the #EndSARS Movement. Those that have been speaking the truth since 20/10/20 are still saying the same thing till this very day.

“Go and check the statements of Government reps or their supporters. It’s from one lie to the other. Now they are fighting themselves. Everlasting confusion for the wicked.”

2023: I Will Not Impose My Successor On Rivers — Wike

Published

on

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers on Thursday said he would not impose any governorship aspirant of his choice on the people of Rivers come 2023.

Wike gave the assurance in a statement issued by Mr. Kelvin Ebiri, his Special Assistant on Media, in Port Harcourt.

He assured that the leadership of the party would meet to decide who to support at the appropriate time.

Wike however said that he is obliged to ensure that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wins the 2023 governorship election in Rivers.

“One mistake I will not make is to impose somebody. From my experience as a student of history, reality has shown that it is difficult for you to say Joseph is the man I can trust.

”Until you give somebody power and money, that is only when you will know whether that person is trustworthy or not,” he said.

Wike stated that God would not allow someone who will destroy all the remarkable progress the state had made over the years to be the next governor.

”God will ensure that it is only someone who is courageous, firm and ready to protect the interest of Rivers that will succeed me.

“Rivers is a state that so many people have an interest in. It is a state that you have to put your feet on the ground. It is a state that you have to annoy a lot of Nigerians and a lot of Nigerians will hate you.

“But what is important is for you to know is what is good for your people and stand for your people. Do not allow personal interest to sway you against the interest of your people,” Wike stated.
