2023: Tension In Alimoso As 3,000 Supporters Of APC Rep Aspirant Threaten Defection

Published

on

There is a palpable tension in the Alimoso Federal Constituency chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as supporters of House of Representatives aspirant, Prince Idris Balogun, have threatened to defect to another party over the seeming injustice done to the aspirant during the party primaries.
Speaking to journalists over the weekend, the supporters led by their spokesman, Olalere Oyetola lamented that despite that their candidate, Prince Balogun, popularly called Oluomo Kafata, being the most popular and widely accepted aspirant, the leadership of the party gave its Rep ticket to another aspirant.
“We’re supporters of Oluomo Kafata and we are registering our grievances and displeasure at the injustice done to him during the last primaries of the party,” Oyetola said.
According to him, Balogun has been the man who has been driving the party forward in Alimoso Federal Constituency. “He has been empowering people of all cadres: students, women, widows and party members. Over 5,000 people have benefitted and more are still benefitting from his empowering programmes,” he said.
Oyetola stated further that Balogun has been doing everything in the name of the party and he has been able to put the party in the consciousness of the people. “His empowerment programmes have been second to none. This is a man who has purchased buses to convey school children to and from school in the name of the party. He purchased a grading machine worth N100 million used in grading roads. All these are done free of charge and in the name of the party,” he said.
He stated further that Balogun was the consensus candidate of the party. “The primary for Rep could not take place in Alimoso due to violence. Two people were killed on that day. After due consideration, it was decided that Oluomo should be the consensus candidate.
“We were surprised that a kangaroo primary was organised at the party secretariat and schemed him out,” he explained.
According to him, they have to let the whole world know what is happening in Alimoso because supporters of Oluomo are not happy.
“He (Oluomo) has been the one telling us to calm down that the leadership of the party is looking into the problem.
“However, not even him can keep us calm for long. We’re not happy and we may leave the party if urgent steps are not taken to redress the situation,” he said.
Others who spoke with the media at the occasion, confirmed that they have made up their mind to leave the party if the injustice done to their man is not redressed.
“The leadership of the party should know that if Balogun is allowed to leave the party, APC will lose in Alimoso Federal Constituency. He is the most popular candidate, a grassroots mobilizer and the choice of the people. He will win the election on any party’s platform,” he said.

No doubt, Ifeanyi Ubah, Chairman, Capital Oil, is generous to a fault.   This top player in the nation’s oil and gas sector also has a large heart. Besides, he is unapologetically committed to the uplift of his community, while also helping the course of humanity.

The billionaire is fasting becoming one of the biggest philanthropists from the South East part of Nigeria has the milk of kindness running in his veins.

As proof of his fellow-feeling, the Senator representing Anambra South senatorial district in the National Assembly,  has  just made a wondrous donation of N500million to Anambra State, to support the fight against insecurity.

Ubah made the pledge during a visit to the state Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, at the Government House last Tuesday evening in Awka, the state capital.

The senator, however, made specifications on how the money would be spent.

Anambra State had for over a year been under the tight grip of criminals, who kidnap, kill and steal from residents until lately, when Soludo fought back.

“I will complement your efforts with a series of interventions aimed at curbing capital flight from the zone and restore confidence in our people to return home and help in developing our economy.”

Stating how the funds would be spent, Ubah said N200million would be spent on the training of security personnel and provision of latest security communication gadgets for Anambra South vigilante groups.

”I Will Demolish Boko Haram and Banditry in 60 days if elected” – SDP Presidential Candidate, Adewole Adebayo

Published

By

Presidential Candidate for Social Democratic Party ,SDP, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has promised  Nigerians  that he will end and demolish  Boko Haram and banditry in his first 100 days in office if elected President in 2023.  He also vowed that  within 60 days, banditry, in any and every part of the country would have been totally wiped out from Nigerian soil.

“If the people in my government are not trying to be billionaires, the issue of banditry will be over within 60 days. Terrorism is a little complex but the Boko Haram fighters can be technically chased  away from Nigerian soil within 100 days, that doesn’t mean they won’t be in the region. The strength of these Boko Haram and bandits is the ability to reinforce. That reinforcement ability is what makes look it like the Nigerian armed forces are not doing anything. They have a rapid reinforcement. If it takes you three weeks operation to dislodge them from the territory, they can use seven days to recalibrate and come back. So, my first 100 days you will be hearing Boko Haram from a long distance and the bandits, most likely will be former bandits, that is if they are alive at all”, he stated.

Speaking at a question and answer online programme “Symfoni” Adebayo said as a potential president, his vision about where Nigeria is headed and how to get there is clear in his head as men and women of character and integrity to help with the New Nigeria he envisioned,  are already being sought.

Unlike his contemporaries, Adebayo said he didn’t have the luxury of having a political godfather to smoothen his path as all of them are dead, adding that, after the Almighty God, he relies on nobody.

“I am not lucky with godfatherism. Unfortunately, all my godfathers are dead. Aminu Kano, if he was alive, would have been my god father. Micheal Opara would have been another god father. Mbonu Ojike, it was who said government should serve the people. He would have been my god father, if he was alive. If I had a god father I won’t be running. The people that would have been god fathers are the ones running against me now”, he said.

Adebayo said two weeks after the elections have been won and lost, he will make public names of his ministers, not only for confirmation by the National Assembly, but for further scrutiny by the general public.

Said he: ” I will name my ministers two weeks after the elections. I assign portfolios to the ministers and allow Nigerians to judge them, question and interrogate them. I meet the service chiefs and behind to hear from them their challenges and how it can be tackled. As a potential winner of the coming election, I am already speaking with them. I don’t need to wait till when I would be sworn in before taking such action. I swing into action the moment the election is won and lost”.

Adebayo said he is not surprised about the sudden matching order given by the president to the minister of education to resolve the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU suspension of his members from classrooms, adding that its typical of the president. “Its not unusual from the president to allow issues to fester before taking decision.

I don’t want to be a president like that. It’s better not to be a president at all than allow crisis to fester for this long.  Anybody who knows the president would know that he is a very good and decent man but I think he is on a wrong job, because this job requires you to know things and take action before they happen, and if they happen, to react swiftly. It is my hope that the matter is resolved. But even at that, by the time I assume office, I will cement it so that for the next 25 years, there won’t be crisis of ASUU with the Federal Government again because I will ensure there is autonomous for the sector. Remember that I went to America where I spent ten days and in the course of meetings, where we reached agreement with the black historical universities and colleges to come and assist Nigerian universities. At least, 2000 Americans professors will come to Nigeria on sabbatical and exchange to help us build up . Even if ASUU isn’t on strike , they don’t have enough equipment to produce quality graduates”.

The Secretary of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Sunmi Lanre Odesanya, has urged lawyers across the country to ensure that they get their Permanent Voters Card and participate in elections.
The legal practitioner made the statement during an interactive session with the executives of the Ikorodu chapter of the the Nigerian Bar Association on Thursday.
Speaking during the session held at the Lagos APC secretariat, Acme Road, Ikeja, the former Chairman of the Lagos House of Assembly Committee on Judiciary, Human Right & Public Petitions said that the purpose of the meeting was to cross fertilise ideas on how to move the party forward.
“The legal profession remains my noble constituency. I’m so proud to be a lawyer. The purpose of this meeting is to cross fertilise ideas with my learned colleagues on how to move the party forward. Lawyers are stakeholders, even if they are not partisan, they should endeavour to get their PVCs and participate in elections.
“There’s a saying that if you fold your hands, the fools will rule over you. I implore this intellectuals, professionals and nation builders not to just fold their hand. As stakeholders, they should participate in the electioneering process. Lawyers are blessed right from heaven with wisdom and knowledge on how to govern the society,” he said.
He assured the Ikorodu NBA chapter of individual and collective engagements whenever the need arise.
“I’m proud of Ikorodu of NBA. There’s the need to tap from their wealth of intellectuality. The community is blessed with intellectuals at the BAR. They are growing in all realms intellectually,” he said.
The APC State Secretary assured the executives that he will put in his best to convince senior colleagues in the legal profession from Ikorodu for moral and financial supports to the chapter.
Earlier in his remarks, the Ikorodu NBA chairman, Idris Kolawole Thanni, highlights some of their challenges and seeks both moral and financial supports for the newly inaugurated administration.
“We have various committees that requires supports. We are newly inaugurated. We committee on Pro bono, Domestic violence, Child right abuse, People living with disabilities, legal aids, police duty solicitors scheme and anti cultism.
“Each of these committees have special tasks and roles they provided freely to indigent people of Ikorodu. We have lawyers stationed in courts to offer free services people brought to court without a lawyer to defend them. By doing this, we help decongest our correctional centres.
“We have lawyers that are saddled with the responsibility of standing in for those that suffers domestic violence, child abuse, rape etc. We offer free legal advice to cultists that wants to renounce their memberships. We have lawyers who also go round to check police cells to see those who were wrongly arrested and detained and get them Justice.
“We don’t have a BAR centre in Ikorodu. We are tenants there. We need a BAR centre for the branch. We will appreciate whoever comes to our aid in this regard by immortalising them. We hope that the secretariat will yield to our requests,” he averred.
